Denver Pop Culture Con

In 2015 Penman made his first appearance at a comic con. The Denver Comic Con #DenverComicCon has since become the Denver Pop Culture Con #denverpopculturecon . Cartoonist Gary Blehm had not started screen printing yet so he sold a lot of #PENMEN posters that weekend. As is customary since 1989 Blehm drew PENMEN for all who wanted one. The life sized Penman cartoon character seen in the photo was made for a canopy tent at outdoor festivals, farmers markets, and craft fairs. Three months after this photograph was taken at the Denver Comic Con Blehm ordered in his screen printing equipment and began printing t-shirts in his garage based studio. The Penman character is printed on t-shirts posed in various outdoor adventure activities as was common in the comic strip and posters reaching back to the first publications in 1989.
